Unless you're pre-matched to a writer, you won't be starting work until after matching (August 31st-September 8th). At this stage you're just registering your interest to be an artist for the Big Bang.
Podficcers signing up as artists may be granted extra time, as recording a 10k+ fic and editing is significantly more time-consuming than other formats. Bear in mind how long you'll need to complete your podfic when you choose a posting date with your writer.
