It’s because I had to spend some time sorting out if he was Harold Wren or Martin or whatever for they first part of the series! It was then that it occurred to me that Finch was an alias he made for after the death of Nathan and the loss of Grace.
My favorite thing in the world is taking something that is sad and making it something that will make someone happy. So I took the name Finch and made it into a name that John can give Harold and can signify that they’re starting a new stage of their life together!
